His glory will be revealed

From a mission worker in Asia

I want to start by thanking you all. For every prayer you have spoken, for every penny you have given, you have been doing the work of helping to bring his kingdom here, and I am truly thankful. Thank you for standing with me and supporting me for all these years, thank you for lifting my arms up when I have been weary and discouraged. This morning, as I again found myself in a weary and discouraged place, I wanted to meditate on Isaiah 40:31. I’m sure you all know it well: ‘Those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall walk and not faint.’ But as I was reading the chapter I found myself drawn to earlier verses in the chapter: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain, AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE REVEALED, and all flesh shall see it together.’ Whilst we know this was a prophecy about Jesus, I felt like he was speaking encouragement through it to me this morning. It feels like I am in a wilderness right now and I am surrounded by valleys and mountains and obstacles, but his promise this morning was that he will even it all out, he will make a way and his glory will be revealed.

Our long Sundays

From a Pioneers family in South Asia

We are trying to make a monthly trip out to the village to visit our young people who are at boarding school there. It’s a five-hour round trip and visitors are only allowed on Sundays, so it’s a long day, but very worth it to see them and to visit a beautiful part of the country! The twins continue to cause lots of mischief, but their good hearts cover a multitude of wrongdoings! The other boy we visit is part of our ministry’s family support group, and his older sister has been doing a fantastic job taking care of him during the holidays. It hasn’t been easy for her following the death of their father, especially because their mother has been away from home for several months. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Of geckos, kittens, and something deeper than toys

A note from the Islands

There are moments every now and again when it suddenly hits us – where do we live?! In the last few days we’ve noticed and welcomed a large gecko into our home and had to rescue a cat who gave birth to five kittens in our roof! It’s like these animals sense the peace and safety in this place and want in! We’ve also had a group of kids playing at the house lately – probably for the toys, but I’m hoping that while they’re here they’ll experience something much deeper. The overwhelm and sensory overload for us is real – the noise, the heat, the mosquito bites. But there’s a sense that something exciting is happening here and we ALL get to be here for it!
