Testimony
2 minute read
My name is Rita,* and I come from North Africa – I live in a neighbouring country to the country of my birth. I came to Christ some years ago, but my husband and children remained Muslims. One of my sons was very devout – he fasted every Ramadan, prayed without missing a single prayer, and lived closely within his father’s Muslim family.
Every week in my PALM discipleship group, we prayed for our families. I always prayed for my son, asking God to open his heart. Whenever he called to check on me, I shared the stories I had learned in the group and told him about Christ’s saving love. I did this for a long time, but nothing seemed to change.
Then one day, during a phone call, he said something I will never forget, ‘Mum, can you pray to your God for me?’
Not long afterwards, he came to me and told me he did not want to fast during Ramadan this year. Instead, he said he wanted to learn more about Christ. My heart erupted with joy. I knelt down and thanked God for his love and for hearing my prayers.
I told my brother, who is a Christian, what had happened. He called my son to confirm whether this was truly his desire. My son answered him, ‘Uncle, I’m ready to know your God.’
Since then, my brother has been discipling him so he can grow in understanding. My son has not yet made a public declaration of faith, but I can see that his heart is opening to the work of the Holy Spirit.
This journey has shown me how vital my training has been. PALM has taught me so much about the Word of God, and it has given me the tools and the opportunity to share what I learned with others.
I am so grateful that God used these lessons to help me bring a new believer – my own son – into his Kingdom.

PALM is a specialist discipleship and training team within the Pioneers global family and is part of Pioneers Media.
PALM (Preparing Arab-world Leaders for Ministry) seeks to partner with believing communities and equip new leaders through Bible and theological training that would otherwise be inaccessible. The trainings are delivered in-country in their native languages and local cultural contexts so they may lead and serve where they live.
PALM is currently serving alongside more than one hundred discipleship groups in at least 58 towns and cities across the Muslim world. Many of these churches are made up of people from unreached people groups who are witnessing the earliest formative stage of the church in their heart communities.
