Kadin wanted a printed Bible

Story shared by Arab World Media

Testimony

2 minute 24 second read

Several years ago, Kadin* was looking for a Bible. One of our media responders, Emin*, worked for a church and Kadin made contact with him through the church’s website. Kadin was very clear that he did not want to download a Bible, he only wanted a physical paper copy of the Bible; and he did not want to meet anybody in person. Through communicating with him by WhatsApp and by phone Emin realised that he had a solid understanding of the Christian faith.

To Emin, the most straightforward way to get a Bible to Kadin was through someone who lived much closer to Kadin than Emin did. Maleek* was the person who came to mind. However Maleek was hesitant about connecting with a stranger, let alone meeting him and giving him a Bible. It took six months of online conversations between Kadin and Maleek before they finally agreed to meet in person.

Meeting face-to-face

And when they finally met, Maleek confessed that he hadn’t brought the Bible with him!

So they arranged to meet again, and this time, Emin was also in the city. Kadin agreed he was happy to meet both of them – this time, with the Bible!

The three men had a wonderful time talking together. Kadin shared that he had been a believer for quite some time, but, because of his job and its ties to public service, he was afraid and had not wanted to meet other believers, especially local ones. His faith was in his heart, but he didn’t want to be seen because of his work.

When they went their own ways after their meeting, Kadin admitted that he felt comfortable with Maleek and Emin and wanted to stay in touch. They continued to communicate online, and when the next national holiday came around, Emin invited Kadin to his home. He stayed for a week, and they spent the whole time talking about faith and studying together.

What an encouragement to the team to hear from Emin that he had not only been able to meet Kadin, he had also had the privilege of baptising him!

Towards the end of their time together, Kadin asked if he could be baptised in a church. So the next holiday, during the Christmas season, Kadin stayed the whole week and was baptised.

During this time, they also talked about how Kadin could continue to grow in his faith and the resources that were available to help him. He was told about our ministry’s website and how good it was… at which he burst out laughing. It was apparently the first Christian website that had communicated with him back at the beginning of his journey in 2016. For about four years he had been in touch with a digital responder, Abdulkader*, who has since retired, but when Kadin lost his laptop and access to his email account, he also lost our contact details and fell out of touch with the responder.

An early contact

Emin had not heard about Kadin before, so asked his colleagues about him. Some of them did remember him, and that Abdulkader had desperately tried to find someone to meet with him but had been unsuccessful. What an encouragement to the team to hear from Emin that he had not only been able to meet Kadin, he had also had the privilege of baptising him!

We praise God for Kadin and how he has been faithfully seeking and following the Lord for so many years. And we pray that he will be able to find more believers who live near him whom he can trust and who can support him as he continues to mature in his faith.
