I kept crying in my dream – I don’t know why. I looked at Jesus and said, ‘I want you – how can I come to you and get to know you better?
How can I follow you?’
Mira* is one of the team of digital responders working with Arab World Media. One day she received a call from Mohammed,* a soldier in the army, who asked her about Christianity. They communicated for several weeks, discussing some chapters from the Bible, but he became extremely hostile and verbally attacked her. Suddenly he invited her to leave Christianity and follow Islam. When she refused, he began to curse and swear and insult her. Finally, he put the phone down and ended the call. She was hurt.
That same night, at about three o’clock in the morning, Mohammed tried to call her, but she refused to answer. Then he called again, about three hours later, and again, she refused to answer. So he sent a text, in which he said, ‘I had a dream last night. I saw Jesus! He told me to call you – would you please answer when I call?’
When she read those words, she decided immediately to call him back. This is what he shared:
I was asleep, and I dreamed of entering a gate. I saw a wonderful, very beautiful place that I can’t even describe. I saw Jesus from far away, yet I still felt that he was very close to me.
This place was full of people. I kept trying to say the Shahada – the Islamic declaration of faith – but I couldn’t speak. When I tried to enter, one of the two angels at the gate said, ‘No, you can’t go in.’ At that moment, I felt like someone had taken my old heart and given me a new one. Suddenly, I realised that Islam is false and that Jesus is the only way to the true God.
I kept crying in my dream – I don’t know why. I looked at Jesus and said, ‘I want you – how can I come to you and get to know you better? How can I follow you?’
He answered, ‘Get in touch with Mira; she will tell you.’
When I woke up, my pillow was wet from my tears, and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I called you at three o’clock in the morning and then again at six. I wanted to tell you that I’m so sorry for what I said yesterday and how I insulted and hurt you. I wanted to let you know that I now believe Jesus Christ is God, and that I’ve become a new person. Can you tell me again about Christ? Will you consider me a different person now. Please answer me?
I love Jesus Christ and don’t need anything else but him. I want to follow him for the rest of my life!
Mira and Mohammed spoke together for nearly three hours! Mohammed cried the whole time. Near the end of their conversation, Mira told him, ‘You need to receive the salvation of Christ to follow him.’
He answered, ‘No wonder the angel refused to let me in the gate in my dream – I hadn’t received the salvation of Christ! I love Jesus Christ and don’t need anything else but him. I want to follow him for the rest of my life!’
